My makeup collection is very small. I own one of almost everything (one foundation, one blush, etc.). The only category that I have in multiples are lip items. I like to keep my collection minimal because having a routine of knowing what I’m going to slather on my face on a given day is so much easier than choosing from four different foundations or blushes. For the new year, I still want to keep my collection minimal but replace what I currently use with products that I’m interested in and have never used before.
The foundation I’m using right now is the Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation in golden beige (it’s super affordable!). The color matches well from what I can tell by looking at pictures. However, on my combination skin, the foundation dries way too fast before I can blend it even if I apply a moisturizer beforehand. If I’m not careful, I’m left with foundation spots and or areas around my face that are bare. I’ve always been interested in the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation. Some reviews have even compared the two, but I think the Estee Lauder foundation will do a much better job at controlling oil.
The other makeup product that I’m using right now is the Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Face Primer. Although it helps to control some shine, it doesn’t do much for my pores. It does have high reviews though so maybe others are finding that it works perfectly for them. I’m trading that primer for the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer.
For the last year, I’ve worn the Stila Convertible Color in coral peach cream with the Tarte Park Avenue Princess Clay Matte Bronzer. Before that, I have always loved pairing the Nars Orgasm Blush and Nars Laguna Bronzing Powder because the colors go well together. I want to go back with using the two Nars products but in the liquid version: Nars Orgasm Liquid Blush and Nars Laguna Liquid Bronzer.
For 2019, I need a more simple and quick eyebrow routine. I’ve used Glossier’s Boy Brow in the past, but it didn’t fill in my sparse brow though. Right now I am using the Anastasia Brow Powder Duo. I do want to go back to using a brow gel because they’re so quick to use in comparison to a brow powder or an eyebrow pencil. The MILK Makeup Kush Fiber Brow Gel contains micro-hairs to accentuate what a person already has (the Glossier one didn’t contain micro-hairs). All you have to do is brush and go.
Okay, the next one isn’t technically a makeup product, but I want to test out the GrandeLash MD Enhancing Serum. My eyelashes require using an eyelash curler, a mascara primer, and then mascara to look long and full. I want my eyelashes to look long even without products. I’m excited to incorporate an eyelash serum. I know that a few companies make them but the GrandeLASH MD one is the one I’m looking forward to purchasing.
